Recipients will be chosen by a national team of panelists based on scientific and technical merit, the potential for major breakthroughs on national and global scales, alignment with Minnesota’s competitive advantages, a strong interdisciplinary approach, and a clear business plan and exit strategy for securing future support.

FY 2013 Request for Proposals
IREE completed a final round of peer-reviewed investments in November 2012. Recipients were selected by a national team of panelists based on scientific and technical merit, the potential for high-impact technologies demonstrating a substantial likelihood of success in the near- to mid-term. IREE awarded $2.6M to seven renewable energy research projects which will begin in early 2013. The selected proposals feature highly integrated and interdisciplinary membership.
FY 2012 Request for Proposals
In June 2011 IREE awarded $4.1 million to 20 renewable energy projects. These projects were a mix of Large, Early Career, Seed and Special Opportunity grants. Recipients were chosen by a national team of panelists based on scientific and technical merit, the potential for major breakthroughs on national and global scales, alignment with Minnesota’s competitive advantages, a strong interdisciplinary approach, and a clear business plan and exit strategy for securing future support.
For FY 2012, a total of 79 proposals were received for a requested $24,986,342 towards research.

2004-6 Request for Proposals
Between 2004-2006, IREE awarded more than $11.1 million dollars to 81 renewable energy projects. These projects were a mix of large and seed grants. Recipients were chosen by a combination of cluster leaders, working groups and the IREE executive committee to build the IREE research portfolio.
